EXPO x Taiwan is a globally published virtual exhibition in MINECRAFT, created by three architecture enthusiasts during the pandemic

Client Vision
Netizen Productions, a community-driven starup, is examining how the pandemic has affected the 2021 World Expo planned for Dubai. They're asking questions like: Is the idea of a World Expo still relevant in the digital age? Can virtual expos be a substitute for physical ones during a pandemic? Also, they're questioning who truly represents each country's pavilion when most people have no say in the design process. 
And they're exploring ways to involve people worldwide in this discussion.

Solutions

Claw Machine Craze: Capturing Taiwan's Culture and Spirit

Recently, claw machines have become extremely popular in Taiwan, leading to a rise in commercial activity. As a result, many bustling shopping streets have been replaced by claw machine shops because they operate without needing staff and are open around the clock.  
We took this inspiration from this trend to infuse some of Taiwan's distinctive characteristics, culture, and essence into our designs. 

We've reimagined familiar building corners as toy models available for people to collect from our machines. If you're intrigued, we invite you to give our machines a try and enjoy playing!

In the digital era, virtual exhibitions provide new opportunities for exhibitions to engage visitors, collect data, and share cultural heritage with a broader audience. Compared to traditional exhibition experiences, EXPO x Taiwan makes it possible for users to have immersive virtual experiences and a better understanding of our project.
Virtual experiences, such as virtual exhibitions, concerts, and tours, have become a trend. It is accessible, convenient, immersive, and interactive. Furthermore, they have opened up new opportunities for people to access diverse cultural and entertainment content around the world.
